ListenStories Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies and localStorage?
Cookies are small text files that your browser stores on your device and sends back to the server with subsequent requests. localStorage is a similar browser mechanism — data is kept only on your device and is not automatically sent to the server.
2. What we use — essential mechanisms only
The listenstories.app Service uses only essential cookies and localStorage entries, required to provide the service:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ls_refresh |
cookie (httpOnly) | keeping you signed in — secure refresh of the authentication token; the cookie is not accessible to scripts | 30 days |
| interface language | localStorage | remembering your chosen interface language (pl / en / de / es / fr) | until deleted by the user |
3. Cookieless visit statistics
We count visits with Umami, an analytics tool running on our own infrastructure. Umami stores no cookies and no other data in your browser, and creates no persistent identifier that could follow you across websites. We collect aggregate traffic data only: the address of the page visited (without the query string), the referring page, country, device type, operating system and browser. Your IP address is not stored — it is used only to determine the country and to compute an irreversible, daily-rotating hash that tells visits apart.
We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party advertising tools. For this reason the Service does not display a cookie consent banner — under the applicable law (the Polish Electronic Communications Law, previously the Telecommunications Law, implementing the EU ePrivacy rules) consent is required for storing information on, or gaining access to information stored on, the user's device for purposes other than strictly necessary to provide the service, and the statistics described above store nothing on your device.
4. Managing cookies
You can manage cookies and site data in your browser settings (blocking,
deleting). Note that deleting the ls_refresh cookie will sign
you out of the Service, and deleting the language entry will revert the
interface to the default language.
5. Changes to this policy
If the scope of cookies we use changes (e.g. once payments launch), we will update this Policy, and if any cookies requiring consent were ever introduced, we would implement an appropriate consent mechanism first. Questions: contact@listenstories.app.
